Yesterday we identified six (6) residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 in West Grove, our memory support unit.

We have contacted the Aged Care Emergency Reponses Centre (ACEOC) and Public Health to assist manage the situation as per our usual process. At this stage, all residents have mild symptoms. We anticipate that a detailed PCR testing process will be conducted for all residents and staff in the area over the coming days to validate the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results.

As a matter of caution, we have immediately closed the area to reduce further spread of the virus within the facility. I want to assure our residents and their families that we are taking this matter seriously and are doing everything we possibly can to eliminate any further risk.

We understand temporary closures can be distressing for both residents and their families and therefore ask that you work with us at this time to ensure all residents who need emotional support are enabled to do so with one nominated support person. Please note that given the active COVID-19 cases on site, we ask for your cooperation to assist us to prevent any further spread of the virus by wearing of PPE (such as masks etc) and following all directions provided to you by our experienced staff.

As always, we will keep reviewing the current situation and will provide another update over the coming days.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the team at Umina Park.
